Travel & Transportation:

The University of California, Davis campus is located in Davis, California, 74 miles (119 km) northeast of San Francisco and 12 miles (19 km) west of Sacramento.  Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is the closest airport to Davis; San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (OAK) International Airports are also reasonably close (~80 miles).

Public Transportation

 

Yolobus - (Update: The Memorial Union (MU) Bus Terminal will be under construction during the conference, Yolobus will have a temporary stop at the intersection of Howard Way & Russell (1 block away from the MU)- Summer Map) fare US$2 exact change only. Service from 6am - 10pm. See schedules for exact times.

Route#42B - Intercity Loop Counter-Clockwise - Regular bus service between SMF Terminal A or B to UC Davis Memorial Union (MU) takes about 55 minutes.

Route#42A - Intercity Loop Clockwise - Is the optimal bus route to go from UC Davis Memorial Union to SMF.

Unitrans - (Update: The Memorial Union (MU) Bus Terminal will be under construction during the conference, all buses have been re-routed to the Silo or Art Building terminals- Summer Map) Fare US$1. Davis is served by a fleet of 49 red buses, including historic London doubledecker buses, and two modern doubledecker buses. All Unitrans busses are driven and supervised by UC Davis students. Unitrans safety record is among the best among public transit systems in the U.S.


Davis Airporter is a local company that provides door-to-door shuttle service from Sacramento and San Francisco International Airports to Davis and neighboring towns. Reservations required.

Sacramento International Airport (SMF) to Davis: $23 for a single rider, with discounts for additional people in your party.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Davis: $85 for a single rider, with discounts for additional people in your party.

 

Taxi from Sacramento International airport to UC Davis takes about 25 minutes with a cost of about US$80. 

 

Amtrack
Davis is served by regular Amtrak Capitols train service from both the San Francisco Bay area and Sacramento.
For those who may want to visit San Francisco before or after the workshop, there is connecting bus service from the Amtrak Capitols Emeryville station with various downtown San Francisco stops. Travelers arriving at the San Francisco Bay area airports San Francisco (SFO)  and Oakland (OAK) can travel to Davis using a combination of the local bay area train service the "Bay Area Rapid Transit" system (BART)  and the Amtrak Capitols.
(note: it is not recommended to use this Amtrak station late at night as the station is only a platform with no station agents.  If arriving at night take BART to Richmond BART station and then transfer to the Amtrak Capitol service to Davis).

 

Mace Park & Ride Lot

Near the intersection of Mace Blvd. and 2nd. St. - Behind Ikeda's Market - Davis, CA 95618

The Park & Ride Lot is an option if you want to avoid paying $8 per day for a visitor parking permit. Instead, it is $2 for Yolobus 42A or $1 for Unitrans Q bus to the Memorial Union (MU).

 

Sunday, June 15, 2014 courtesy shuttle - The SIF is providing a courtesy shuttle from Downtown Sacramento to the ASITA conference on Sunday morning only. Please contact us to arrange a pick-up location. Space is limited!

Driving Directions


Driving Directions from Sacramento International Airport (SMF):

-Take Airport Blvd. to I-5 North towards Redding. Go 8 miles on 1-5.

-Take the Main Street Sout exit toward CA-113 S/Woodland

-Turn left onto East Main Street for half a mile

-Turn left onto CA-113 South ramp towards Davis. Go 8 miles on 113.

-Take the Russell Blvd exit towards Davis

-Turn left on Russell Blvd.

-Turn right on Howard Way.

-Visitor parking is available in the North Campus Parking Structure on your left ($8 per day). No cars are allowed on the main campus.

 

Driving Directions from US-50 W / I-80 W:

Construction and detour advisory: Sections of I-50 will be under construction, and may affect your drive between Davis and Sacramento

-Head west to I-80 West

-Take the Richards Blvd North exit toward Downtown

-Merge onto Richards Blvd.

-(After going under the train tracks) turn left onto 1st Street

-Take the 3rd right onto B Street

-Turn left onto Russell Blvd (5th Street)

-Turn left onto Howard Way

-Visitor parking is available in the North Campus Parking Structure on your left ($8 per day). No cars are allowed on the main campus.

 

 Driving Directions from San Francisco International Airport (SFO): (International travel is recommended through SFO)

-Take I-80 East ($5 toll for the Carquinez Bridge)

-Take CA-113 North (signs for Woodland)

-Take the Russell Blvd exit towards Davis

-Turn right onto Russell Blvd.

-Turn right on Howard Way.

-Visitor parking is available in the North Campus Parking Structure on your left ($8 per day). No cars are allowed on the main campus.

 

Campus Parking

Visitor parking is $8 per day, and in designated Visitor Parking Lots, such as the North Entry Parking Structure. Most street parking in the surrounding areas are for residents with permits only.

 


 

Navigating on Campus

 

To ASITA Conference in Freeborn Hall from the North Entry Parking Structure:

-Head towards campus on Howard Way which ends in the bus circle. The Memorial Union (MU) will be in front of you.

-Freeborn Hall is the building to the right of the MU.

 

To the Plant & Environmental Sciences Bldg (PES) from the North Entry Parking Structure:

-Head towards campus on Howard Way, and take a right on Tennis Court Lane

-The PES Bldg. is the second bldg on the left, across from the tennis courts.

-The SIF main office is located on the second floor, room 2251 PES

-The SIF secondary office is located on the third floor, room 3116 PES.
