Due to budget reductions, the UC Davis Mail Division will provide mail service to the SIF on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays only. This reduction affects interoffice and US Mail (standard post). This reduction does not affect private carrier delivery, including FedEx, UPS, and DHL.
The SIF highly recommends that shipments requiring special handling, including gas and refrigerated samples, should be shipped using a major carrier such as FedEx, UPS, and DHL. Customers are responsible for all customs fees.

Streamlining the Bacteria Denitrification Assay
At the beginning of 2011, the SIF began testing and implementing a more efficient way to prepare and analyze nitrate in water samples for δ15N and δ18O. The SIF abstract High-throughput analysis of δ15N and δ18O of nitrates by the bacterial denitrifier method was presented at the ASITA (Advances in Stable Isotope Techniques and Applications) Workshop in June 2011.

UC Davis Stable Isotope Facility Symposium
The SIF hosted a symposium, From Sources to Scapes: Contributions of Light Stable Isotopes to Environmental Sciences, on December 16-17, 2010, at UC Davis. The event, which honored the retirement of the facility's founder, Dr. David Harris, featured a keynote address by Keith Hobson (Environment Canada) discussing the use of spatial isotopic patterns, or isoscapes, to track migrant animals. In addition, a number of SIF customers presented their research. A poster session allowed time for informal discussion with attendees as well as SIF staff.
For more information, please see the Symposium page.

The SIF now accepts payment by credit card.
The SIF is happy to announce that we now accept payment by credit card. However, please be aware that invoices for credit card payments are generated using a different accounting system than check and wire transfer invoices. It is a lot of paperwork to switch payment type once an invoice is produced, so please select your payment type ahead of time. DO NOT SEND ANY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION via e-mail, phone, fax, letter, or Analysis Order Form to the SIF. We cannot guarantee the safety of your information. To pay by credit card for new orders, please indicate your intention to pay by credit card on the newest version of the Analysis Order Form and include this form with your sample shipment. For orders currently awaiting invoicing please notify us, you will be invoiced and given directions on how to pay securely.
For more information, contact Emily.
